As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a fully participating member of an agile feature team, independently working on software development and problem resolution. The role involves technical design, software development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions/products that support the Emirates Group business.
In this role you will:
- Work with senior technical engineers in the technical design process by contributing to analyzing technical application requirements.
- Convert technical solutions for small to medium-sized initiatives into low-level design and working code.
- Independently write secure and optimized code while implementing Emirates Group approved coding standards.
- Participate in rotational on-call support, actively resolving production issues within SLAs with minimal supervision.
- Ensure built-in quality and 100% unit testing as part of the CI/CD pipeline.
- Analyze and fix all identified defects with minimal rework.
- Promote refactoring practices to ensure minimum code debt.
- Implement logging and monitoring hooks in code development.
- Continuously stay current with relevant technologies and enhance code quality.
- Adhere to the Emirates Group IT coding standards and contribute to Software Engineering Playbooks.
Requirements
To be considered for the role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Degree or Honours in a relevant field (Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Backend Application Development, primarily in Java (versions 8+) with microservices capability.
- Backend Technologies: Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, Restful API, SOAP, Microservices, Design Patterns.
- Web Technologies: React.JS.
- Database Technologies: Relational (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres); NoSQL (Couchbase, MongoDB, Elastic Search, Cassandra).
- Cloud Technologies: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
- DevOps: GIT, Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence.
- Build: Maven, Ant, Gradle.
- Automation Testing: Jasmine, Jest, Karma, Junit, mockito, Jmock, Jmeter.
- Experience in developing complex technology software solutions for large organizations and providing production support using ITIL framework.
- Deep experience in Full stack development, technology evaluation, vendor selection, and management.
- Familiarity with contemporary engineering practices like CI/CD, managing technology platforms, and ensuring a robust code base.
