Position

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), your responsibilities will include staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments. You will conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment and carry out hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes, following Standard Operating Procedures. This role offers you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Data Center standard processes, develop mentoring skills by guiding peers, and familiarize yourself with security and data management practices, all of which will help accelerate your career growth.

You will be a key part of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), which powers cloud services for products like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures to identify issues and replace faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes (e.g., memory upgrades).
  • Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management units, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists.
  • Assist and provide guidance to other technicians with complex tasks.
  • Complete required training aligned to the role and workload and observe experienced technicians for hands-on experience.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment through sharing information, participating in team meetings, and maintaining awareness of team members' work.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with basic knowledge of computer hardware and 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft and customer security screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Applicable certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) and Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
