Position

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments. This role includes troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment, as well as hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes, all adhering to Standard Operating Procedures. The position provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding of data center processes, develop mentoring skills, and familiarize yourself with security and data management procedures.

You will play a vital role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is dedicated to both personal and professional development, offering training, growth opportunities, and career rotation programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting per standard procedures, identifying issues and replacing faulty components with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure safety protocols, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up correctly.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes following standard procedures.
  • Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management and engineering specialists.
  • Assist and guide other technicians in completing complex tasks.
  • Complete required training and gain hands-on experience through observation and practice.
  • Foster a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in team meetings, and staying updated on others' work.
  • Take pride in service quality and accountability for the data center facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components with 1+ year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Background Check: Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Applicable certifications, such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) and Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
