Position

The role of a Data Center Technician involves supporting IT infrastructure and server administration within a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems). The technician will work in a "mission critical operations" environment, where they are expected to demonstrate a detail-oriented approach to solving customer problems. The position requires on-call availability, necessitating a driving license and the ability to reach the Data Center site within approximately 60 minutes. The job may involve working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure support
  • Experience with data center M&E equipment
  • Solid understanding of data center design, including electrical and cooling operations
  • Knowledge of airflow management, rack installation, and structured cabling
  • Proficiency in systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in a virtual environment
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide product support
  • Self-motivated with capability to work independently or in remote teams

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison to technical and non-technical teams
  • Provide timely technical solutions to internal customer problems
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and optimization of server hardware
  • Conduct system board level repair and fault diagnosis
  • Plan and commission new rack positions
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately
  • Adhere to defined Health & Safety processes
