The Datacenter Technician will be responsible for delivering technical support and installations within an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenter. Key responsibilities include performing break-fix tasks related to hardware, networks, and cabling, managing installations, and escalating problems as needed. You will prioritize ticketing queues, resolve escalations, and ensure technician activities align with internal policies and service level agreements.
This position requires an on-call availability to respond to site issues within approximately 60 minutes, necessitating a valid driving license and the ability to work in confined or elevated spaces. The role involves providing direct customer support and working effectively in both remote and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration, ideally in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ servers)
- Familiarity with data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve complex customer problems
- Experience in a mission-critical operations environment
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to interact professionally with diverse teams
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of data center design and airflow management
- Strong skills in rack and stack procedures, as well as structured cabling (fiber & copper)
- Systems administration knowledge (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP) and hardware concepts (RAID, SAN)
- Experience with core OS services (SSH, Telnet, RDP)
