Position

As a Field Engineer (Data Center) at Oracle, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of technical support, break/fix activities, and installations related to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenters. Your role will include hardware and network support, cabling and rack deployments, site planning, problem escalation, and managing installations. Key responsibilities include prioritizing ticketing queues, resolving escalations, and ensuring the continued delivery of technician activities according to internal policies and service level agreements. Additionally, you will provide 24/7 site coverage as part of a shift rotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a support expert liaison to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Understand internal customer problems and provide timely technical solutions.
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware.
  • Conduct system board-level repair and fault diagnosis to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Plan and commission new rack positions and design/commission new whitespaces.
  • Install structured cabling as a significant part of this position.
  • Adhere to defined Health & Safety processes at all times and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems).
  • Basic knowledge of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant operations and airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment).
  • Strong structured cabling skills on fiber and copper (e.g., looming, termination, testing) and systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers).
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting) and IT hardware concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO).
  • Ability to work productively in remote cross-functional teams and independently.
  • Good command of English, both oral and written, with strong communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • On-call responsibilities require a valid driving license and ability to reach the Data Center site within approximately 60 minutes.
  • Willingness to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
