The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) is a sovereign wealth fund owned by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, established in 1976 to invest funds on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi. It was created to diversify and preserve the emirate's wealth beyond oil revenues. ADIA is one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world and is known for being highly discreet about its assets under management. The institution invests globally across a wide range of asset classes, including public equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and alternatives. A significant majority of its assets are managed by external managers, with the remainder managed internally. ADIA co-chaired the working group that produced the Santiago Principles for sovereign wealth funds in 2008. It is one of several Abu Dhabi sovereign investment vehicles, alongside Mubadala and ADQ.
