As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will be a part of a fast-paced, creative, and efficient site-based construction team, tackling complex problems while building and supporting the operations of Amazon-owned data centers. This role encompasses oversight of all disciplines, including civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and controls. Key responsibilities include managing construction contracts, ensuring compliance, and overseeing construction-related activities for new builds and capital projects. You will interface with general contractors, manage negotiations, and evaluate bids with precision. The role also involves project management for enhancing the resiliency of data centers, reviewing electrical and mechanical designs, and ensuring quality control during the construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Management and oversight of construction activities related to new builds and capital projects
- Direct liaison with construction general contractors throughout various project phases
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors for efficient project turnover
- Negotiate contracts and evaluate bids accurately
- Create project scopes and requests for proposals
- Review capital expenditures including change orders and invoices
- Manage project quality control, including commissioning processes
- Monitor and report key construction metrics to management
- Travel to other data center sites as required, with 30% international travel expected
Work Conditions
- Frequent travel to data centers, Amazon offices, or vendor premises as needed for support and training

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience OR 5+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience with general contractors and vendors in construction processes
- Direct experience in constructing large-scale electrical and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with the construction of mission-critical facilities like data centers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction site management and interface among operational facilities
- Knowledge of safety, quality standards, and local safety regulations
- Understanding of electrical or mechanical engineering principles and related equipment installation
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles and building codes
