Amazon launched the Generative AI Innovation Center (GenAIIC) in June 2023 to assist AWS customers in accelerating the implementation of generative AI to address business and operational challenges and foster innovation. This team comprises strategists, data scientists, engineers, and solution architects who collaborate closely with customers to create bespoke solutions leveraging generative AI.
We are seeking Data Scientists who can utilize generative AI and other methodologies to architect, promote, and implement innovative solutions for complex problems. In this role, you will engage directly with customers, innovating within a dynamic organization that contributes to transformative projects and technologies. Your responsibilities will include designing and conducting experiments, researching new algorithms, and exploring optimization strategies that enhance risk management, profitability, and customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Collaborate with AI/ML scientists, engineers, and architects to research, design, develop, and evaluate advanced generative AI algorithms to tackle real-world issues.
- Interact directly with customers to comprehend their business challenges, assist them in applying generative AI solutions, and conduct briefing and detailed sessions for guidance on adoption and production paths.
- Create and present best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations tailored to a range of technical and business stakeholders.
- Provide customer insights and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to inform product strategy.
About the team
The Generative AI Innovation Center team supports customers in envisioning and scoping use cases that deliver significant value, selecting and refining the appropriate models, charting paths to navigate technical or business challenges, developing proof-of-concepts, and planning for solution rollouts at scale. The team also advocates for responsible and cost-efficient application of generative AI best practices.

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with several years of experience.
- Several years of experience in building models for business applications.
- Experience in areas such as algorithms and data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, or MXNet.
Preferred qualifications
- PhD or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a highly quantitative domain.
- Practical experience in solving complex problems in applied environments.
- Familiarity with training and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Knowledge of AWS platforms and tools.
