Position

This role is an opportunity to lead a Professional Services team (or Field Engineering team) at Canonical, assisting customers in understanding and implementing Canonical's open-source solutions in public clouds and private data centers. The position encompasses a wide range of cloud offerings, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, and Kubernetes, as well as complex open-source solutions like MLops and data platforms.

As a Cloud Professional Services Manager, you will be responsible for line management and career guidance for your team, which will involve developing engineering talent, providing technical representation, and encouraging collaboration with both internal teams and customers. You will participate in technical presales to help meet departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior level.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Develop and promote excellent engineering and organizational practices.
  • Collaborate actively with the leadership team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.).
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
  • Experience in technical presales.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle new projects and interactions.
  • Proven track record in developing and mentoring engineers.
  • Organized and capable of delivering timely, high-quality results.
  • Exceptional academic background, preferably from university.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for internal and customer meetings.

Additional Skills:

  • Second language (Spanish or French preferred).
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Experience working with external partners and collaborating with various internal teams.
