We are looking for an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services. This role entails assisting customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery. The Internet of Things mission aims to enable the development of secure connected devices, with Canonical providing the Ubuntu OS and kernel alongside secure update and management mechanisms. Field Engineers are seen as thought leaders who help customers solve critical problems through hands-on expertise in embedded Linux strategy and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services
  • Solve customer problems by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Work remotely within a major time zone
  • Mentor and provide career development feedback to team members
  • Identify and measure team health indicators
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes
  • Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Develop and promote effective engineering and organizational practices
  • Collaborate as part of the leadership team

What We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional academic background with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar)
  • Strong background in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Experience managing a small team and engaging with customers
  • Professional written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, and flexibility
  • A results-oriented mindset with a drive to meet commitments
  • A humble learner and quick study

Desirable Traits:

  • Experience with RTOS
  • Knowledge of additional programming and spoken languages
  • Prior experience in a remote-first, diverse, and distributed company

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
