Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, notably through our platform, Ubuntu, utilized in major enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. As an Engineering Manager passionate about building a world-class DevOps culture, you will play a crucial role in transforming our internal systems into an extension of our product engineering capabilities. You will lead a regional team focused on productizing business workloads for real-time automated operations on Kubernetes.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring sound software architecture, following best practices in software quality, testing, and documentation, as well as fostering a healthy, collaborative engineering culture. You will be expected to lead and develop a strong team, facilitate technical delivery, and work with other engineering teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team focused on productizing business workloads.
  • Build and manage a regional team of engineers.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Directly contribute to your team's goals.
  • Set reasonable schedules and manage expectations with stakeholders.
  • Advance modern agile software development practices and maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
  • Participate actively in the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization.
  • Work from home with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events.

Who You Are:

  • You have experience in Docker and Kubernetes operations.
  • You possess a software engineering background, with proven Python experience.
  • You have developed Python frameworks and understand the importance of stable, consumable APIs.
  • You are passionate about embracing new technologies and improving software and infrastructure operation.
  • You have a track record of developing and growing team members and have experience working in an agile development environment.
