The role involves transforming the experience around open source software by enhancing the delivery range through our unified system, which encompasses several aspects such as architectures, releases, and branches.

As an Engineering Manager, your key responsibilities will include fostering effective team dynamics, developing the engineers you manage, ensuring a high level of productivity, and contributing positively to team culture. You will also collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to develop an ambitious engineering roadmap.

What Your Day Will Look Like:

  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Build clean web service APIs to support both CLI and web frontend clients, using Python (and optionally Golang).
  • Engage with various teams at Canonical and the open-source community.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong experience in leading modern, agile software development practices.
  • Proven ability to create a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Experience in Python software development; knowledge of Golang is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical experience with Linux system administration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required, both written and verbal.

What We Offer You:

  • A competitive base salary with annual compensation reviews.
  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Personal learning and development budget of 2,000 USD per annum.
  • Recognition rewards and annual holiday leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Opportunity to travel to meet colleagues at events.
