Position

Canonical is seeking exceptional software engineers with a strong preference for Go programming. The ideal candidates will join various relevant teams, applying their skills to build systems that deliver Ubuntu to users globally. The role includes working on software distribution systems, systems management tools, and distributed systems operations, relying heavily on Golang for performance and security.

In this position, you will:

  • Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Go.
  • Debug and address issues faced by users.
  • Participate in the engineering processes through code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community on technical specifications.
  • Seek improvements to engineering practices.
  • In some cases, deploy and operate services developed by the team.
  • Contribute to the success of products through technical advocacy.

Requirements:

  • An exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a compelling narrative about your career path.
  • Experience designing and writing high-quality Golang software on Linux.
  • Passion and experience with Linux at the system level.

Language Requirements:

  • Professional written and spoken English.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a full-time remote position with the expectation of meeting high engineering standards in a distributed environment.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events, with each trip lasting up to two weeks.
