We are looking for an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to oversee a regionally-focused team of Field engineers dedicated to Presales and Professional Services activities. This role involves guiding customers in solution architecture, design, and delivery.
Our mission is to enable companies to create highly secure connected devices, with Canonical providing the base Ubuntu OS and kernel, alongside secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems that require stringent security and quality standards.
Location: Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions:
- Remote, with a team focused in either the Americas, EMEA, or APAC regions. Candidates must be located within one of these Geos to manage a team across multiple time zones.
- Full-time position with the opportunity to travel for in-person meetings, occurring 2-4 times per year in various global locations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
- Solve customer problems while promoting Canonical's technologies as a trusted advisor.
- Manage team performance and development, coaching and providing feedback.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and represent the team to stakeholders and customers.
- Collaborate on goals and projects, actively participating in the leadership team.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic background with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux, preferably with Yocto or similar technologies.
- Strong Linux experience, particularly with Debian or Ubuntu.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Ability to manage a small team and engage with customers effectively.
- Proficient in professional written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, flexibility, and accountability.
- Results-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments and communicate technology's business benefits.
Desirable Traits:
- Experience with RTOS and additional programming or spoken languages.
- Previous experience in a remote-first, distributed work environment.
