Position

This is an opportunity for a Linux Engineer/Administrator with a passion for Linux and Customer Success to support the technical needs of customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. You will be responsible for delivering an outstanding technical support experience on the full Desktop and Server technical stack at Canonical. Your day-to-day responsibilities include problem qualification and resolution, as well as providing technical expertise and excellent communication to ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote technical support from your home office.
  • Take ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web, ensuring timely updates to internal customers.
  • Manage support cases according to Service Level Agreements (SLA), prioritizing issues effectively.
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and maintain shared knowledge for customer benefit.
  • Participate in training sessions and company events to stay informed about new products and technologies.
  • Maintain communication and exchange information with team members locally and remotely.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with system performance troubleshooting and Linux troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Linux server administration and integration with other environments (authentication/directory services, network file systems).
  • Programming skills in any language (bash, python, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C/C++, Go).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience supporting virtualized environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare).
  • Active contribution to open-source projects/forums.
  • Experience with Linux Kernel.
