Position

This position is ideal for a Linux Engineer/Administrator who is passionate about Linux and Customer Success, looking to build a career with Canonical while supporting customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. As a Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support across the full Desktop and Server technical stack at Canonical. Your responsibilities will include case management, problem resolution, and acting as an internal customer advocate. You will work remotely, providing technical support for employees, prioritizing customer issues, and contributing to knowledge management. Regular participation in training sessions and team events is expected, as well as maintaining communication with your team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage technical support cases via telephone, email, and web.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction while fulfilling Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and draft technical communication notices.
  • Maintain regular communication with your team and identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Participate in weekend working rotations as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
  • Experience in system performance troubleshooting and Linux troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Linux integration in diverse environments and server administration.
  • Programming knowledge in languages such as bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or C/C++.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience with virtualized environments and open-source desktop technologies.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Knowledge of the Linux Kernel.
