Position

We partner with the world's most prominent silicon companies to optimize Ubuntu on their latest platforms. Our goal is to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements in Ubuntu while ensuring a uniform operating experience for users. We are hiring Engineering Managers who are passionate about operational systems, cutting-edge hardware, and open source. You will lead engineering teams focused on enabling and optimizing Ubuntu across various architectures (x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x, and POWER systems).

As an Engineering Manager, you should be an outstanding developer, comfortable reviewing patches or software design specifications. You will be responsible for line management and career guidance for your team, fostering collaboration and technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a diverse team of engineers, from graduates to seniors.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on project milestones.
  • Act as the technical lead on complex customer engagements.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and integrate hardware-oriented software stacks.
  • Optimize Ubuntu for the latest hardware platforms and display technical leadership internally and externally.
  • Contribute to code reviews and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with other leaders as part of the leadership team.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science or STEM fields.
  • Experience with Debian/Ubuntu and a passion for Linux operational systems software.
  • Fluency in C, C++, and Python; experience managing software engineering teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events, lasting up to two weeks each.

Additional Skills That You Might Bring:

  • Knowledge of computer architecture (x86, ARM, RISC-V) and experience with build systems.
  • Familiarity with performance engineering, benchmarking, and technologies such as virtualization stacks and high-performance computing.
