About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems for global enterprises. The role of MLOps Field Engineer will focus on helping companies leverage AI/ML through the latest open source capabilities on public and private cloud infrastructure, Linux, and Kubernetes. The successful candidate will address real-world customer problems to facilitate the enterprise adoption of technologies such as Ubuntu, Kubeflow, MLFlow, Feast, DVC, and other related analytics, machine learning, and data technologies.
The position is ideal for MLOps engineers who enjoy customer interaction and problem-solving during the presales cycle, rather than software development. This role is well suited for candidates with a technical background who also possess a business-centric mindset, striving for commercial success.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy cloud infrastructure solutions using Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, and Spark.
- Develop Python solutions for Kubernetes operators and infrastructure-as-code.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their business requirements and recommend Ubuntu and open source applications.
- Deliver presentations and demonstrations of AI/ML capabilities to clients.
- Work closely with sales teams to meet targets and provide feedback to product teams to influence roadmaps.
- Travel internationally up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and events.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic background in a technical field or relevant experience.
- Experience in data engineering, MLOps, or deploying big data solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or Rust.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and cloud computing concepts (Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to travel internationally and work in a collaborative multicultural environment.
