About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems for global enterprise and technology markets, notably through its widely-used platform, Ubuntu. We are hiring a Python Software Engineer at any seniority level who strives for high engineering quality, continuously develops their skills, and applies them effectively in their work.
This position is part of the Commercial Systems unit, which consists of five engineering teams that collaborate closely with other engineering and business teams at Canonical. The Integrations team manages the automation of SAAS user management and the onboarding of new data sources to the data mesh. This includes developing and operating a Python-based solution for automating SAAS seat management and tracking spending across the application portfolio, as well as integrating internal and external data sources into the data mesh using open-source ETL solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions leveraging Python.
- Collaborate on technical designs and code reviews with colleagues.
- Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
- Depending on your seniority, coach and mentor others and provide career development feedback.
- Advocate for strong engineering and organizational practices.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path.
- Proven experience with software development in Python.
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, lasting up to two weeks.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Performance engineering and security experience.
- Familiarity with Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino.
