The engineering teams are engaged in designing, building, and maintaining operating systems, programming languages, applications, devices, infrastructures, and services.

As a Senior Engineer, you will not only be an outstanding software architect and coder but also demonstrate the leadership qualities needed to guide a team in delivering exceptional products. Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading design and architecture of impactful open-source projects.
  • Coding in languages such as Golang, Rust, Python, C/C++, or TypeScript/React.
  • Collaborating with a globally distributed team.
  • Mentoring and advising colleagues on their career progression.
  • Producing high-quality code and contributing to technical documentation.

Qualifications:

  • An exceptional academic track record from high school and university, preferably with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Proven technical leadership skills with a drive to exceed expectations.
  • Experience with at least one of Go, Rust, Python, or C.
  • Strong professional written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).

Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial:

  • Familiarity with container technologies such as LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with highly concurrent, distributed systems.
  • Background in performance engineering, software security, or systems programming.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay and performance-driven bonuses.
  • A remote-first working environment with twice-yearly team sprints.
  • A personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.
  • Annual compensation reviews and recognition rewards.
  • Holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, and an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities for global travel to meet colleagues.

Canonical is committed to fostering a diverse and equitable workplace. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences.
