Site Reliability Engineer

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, known for its platform, Ubuntu, utilized globally in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance next-gen operations at scale using pure Python infrastructure-as-code, from bare metal to containers and applications.

The role involves bringing Python software-engineering skills to the operations domain, practicing devsecops from bare metal to application, and architecting and running OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage. Successful candidates will be software engineers fluent in Python with a genuine interest in the full open-source infrastructure stack, able to work in a high-pressure operations environment for mission-critical services.

Location: Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Remote)

Work Conditions: Full-time, remote work environment with the requirement to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.

What We Are Looking For:

• Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
• Experience with Linux and familiarity with Linux networking and storage
• Python software development expertise
• Operational experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations
• Familiarity with public or private cloud management
