If you have experience in IT operations automation, Infrastructure as Code, and a passion for technology, then you will enjoy working with some of the best people in the industry at Canonical.

The IS team at Canonical supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services for over 60 million Ubuntu users. As an SRE & Gitops engineer, you'll drive operations automation to the next level in both private and public clouds. This involves using open source infrastructure as code software and software development practices such as CI/CD pipelines.

You will also contribute to improving Canonical products and the open-source technologies they are based on by providing critical feedback to developers. This includes submitting bugs, collaborating on design and implementations, and being part of a global team of SREs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop infrastructure as code practices within IS, enhancing automation and IaC processes.
  • Automate software operations for consistency across clouds, considering complex distributed systems.
  • Enhance resilience and scalability of existing cloud and container portfolios.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Develop troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation skills.
  • Utilize observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
  • Collaborate with development teams on service architecture and operational procedures.
  • Share experience and best practices with team members.

Requirements:

  • Deep experience with operations in code using version control and CI/CD processes.
  • Strong engineering background, including Python software development and Linux system administration.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, firewalls, and storage systems.
  • Extensive understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Motivated and capable of troubleshooting across all levels of technology.
  • Passionate about open source, particularly Ubuntu or Debian.

Benefits:

  • Personal learning and development budget of 2,000 USD per annum.
  • Annual compensation review and recognition rewards.
  • Annual holiday leave and parental leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities for travel to meet colleagues at events.
