Position

Teams convene a few times each year in diverse locations to align on strategy and execution.

We are hiring a Software Architect for Canonical LXD and MicroCloud. The goal is to simplify the management of compute clusters using system containers or virtual machines. This role involves challenges in distributed systems, virtualisation, container technology, networking, and storage. LXD is a modern Golang system container and virtual machine orchestrator popular on various Linux platforms. As a Software Architect, you will influence the architecture and design of LXD and Canonical MicroCloud, which integrates LXD with Ceph and OVN for resilient cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud
  • Mentor and develop team members
  • Develop software in Golang and C
  • Review code from other engineers
  • Ensure product security and performance
  • Display technical leadership

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic background in Computer Science or related STEAM field
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Experience in Go and C, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Experience with container technologies and concurrent distributed systems
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Familiarity with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
