Ubuntu Pro is a suite of specialist services provided by Canonical, designed for enterprise customers and individuals seeking security patching for Ubuntu LTS systems. The Ubuntu Pro Client is crucial as it is the command-line tool managing these services, pre-installed on every Ubuntu system. In this Software Engineer role, you will collaborate with the Ubuntu Server team and various Canonical product teams to enhance the Pro client, ensuring high quality and stability. This involves developing, testing, and releasing features while communicating effectively with users to meet their needs.
Responsibilities include collaborating with a global team, producing high-quality code with testing, debugging issues, reviewing peers’ code, generating ideas for solutions, and occasionally traveling for events.
Candidates should be passionate about the Ubuntu project and its mission, demonstrating a commitment to quality and user experience across diverse audiences. Essential qualifications include extensive Python skills, proficiency in Linux, and familiarity with systems administration, especially with Ubuntu. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with a desire to engage with the open-source community.
