As part of our Data Science and Analytics team, you will serve as an essential connection between various engineering teams and our Data Insights team across our consumer-facing company.
About the Data Science and Analytics Team
Our team operates as a central nexus, connecting various data producers with consumers across the company. Our customers include:
- Other engineering teams who produce or consume data that requires integration with additional data sources.
- Analysts within Data Science and Analytics.
- Business stakeholders, mostly within the Marketing department, up to the CMO.
Responsibilities
We are accountable for delivering:
- A centralized data platform that enables engineers and analysts to ingest, anonymize, and enrich data from various sources within the company.
- Fast, robust data pipelines that supply reports and machine learning models.
- Connections to internal and external data sources.
- Data applications focusing on Marketing needs while conducting the heavy data lifting required for informed business decisions.
- A data catalog that documents the sources of data available for use by other teams.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the business requirements of customers, converting them into well-defined, maintainable, and extensible data models.
- Delivering well-defined, transformed, tested, documented, and high-performing data models.
- Developing orchestration to construct data models in line with established SLAs and dependencies.
- Applying engineering best practices to data models.
- Collaborating with Data Engineers to improve and streamline the data platform.
- Implementing and maintaining data quality standards and data governance practices.
- Maintaining data documentation and definitions.
- Training other members of the organization (data engineers, data analysts, key stakeholders) on effective navigation and utilization of data within established data models.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proficiency in SQL, with a solid understanding of query optimization.
- Proficiency in PySpark and Spark SQL.
- Proficiency in Databricks.
- Proficiency in Data Modeling.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience in Tableau is a significant plus.
- Experience with data warehouses like Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.
- Experience in data analytics and visualization tools.
- Experience with dbt (data build tool) is a plus.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
