Telecommunications Technician

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Telecommunications Technician. This role will involve performing a variety of electronic and technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems. The responsibilities include:

• Conducting terminal troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Installing terminals, controllers, and test equipment, and restoring nonworking lines/equipment to working condition.
• Maintaining liaison with outside vendors and managing orders for circuits and/or equipment as needed.
• Installing, relocating, and modifying telecommunications and related equipment according to job order specifications and standards.
• Upgrading telecommunications systems and addressing queries related to system controls and maintenance.
• Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and performing repairs as per manufacturer recommendations.
• Reporting and monitoring service order changes.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma with 3 - 6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
• Clearance Required: Secret
• Minimum of 2 years’ lead-level practical experience in shop practices, installations, repairs, or maintenance of communications systems or equipment.
• Expertise in maintaining/troubleshooting Motorola and other Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment, including consoles, repeaters, handheld radios, and associated test equipment.
• Qualified to install LMR base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios.
• Experience managing a large-scale LMR shop and familiarity with equipment tracking databases.
