As a Senior Engineer - Platform Systems, you will lead the technical development and integration of space platform systems within Space42's Space Segment Engineering division. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, your role focuses on driving innovation in satellite systems architecture through platform design and evaluation. You will be involved with electrical, mechanical, and thermal platform subsystems during the AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) phases of spacecraft programs, optimizing manufacturing flows, and ensuring alignment with mission goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design, development, and validation of space platform systems to meet mission requirements and industry standards.
- Specify future platform systems during the procurement phase of new missions, evaluate proposals, and assist in contract negotiations with satellite manufacturers.
- Support existing fleet operations, focusing on performance optimization and anomaly investigations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including payload systems, product assurance, and operations teams.
- Develop satellite constellation system models using tools such as MATLAB, STK, and Python.
- Provide platform engineering support to the Satellite Operations team for Space42’s fleet.
- Verify all health reports issued by Satellite Operations and assist in troubleshooting platform anomalies.
- Ensure compliance with space industry standards and quality requirements while documenting lessons learned for future programs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in platform systems development processes.
Qualifications:
- BS in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the satellite industry.
- Strong skills in STK, MATLAB, and Python.
- Proven experience in platform systems engineering projects and familiarity with AI/ML integration in space systems.
- Professional certification in Systems Engineering (INCOSE CSEP) and experience with ESA or NASA standards.
- Knowledge of CAD software and thermal/structural analysis tools.
