Steer Studios is on a mission to create a world-leading game studio in Saudi Arabia, focusing on developing high-quality games for international audiences. We aim to foster the passionate gaming sector in Saudi Arabia, promoting the development of homegrown intellectual property and establishing KSA as a global gaming hub. As a Jr. Game Designer, you will join a dynamic team of talented individuals, including both global gaming experts and dedicated local professionals.
This role involves collaborating with the game team to design game mechanics, systems, rules, and features while working closely with the Lead Designer to fulfill the game vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on the latest player trends and integrate them where applicable.
- Create innovative gameplay, systems, mechanics, and experiences aligned with the game vision.
- Independently manage various creative ideas.
- Define Game Design Document (GDD) for various game systems and maintain documentation of all details, iterations, and changes.
- Review game features to ensure they are enjoyable and adhere to the defined GDD.
- Regularly play game updates to provide feedback and ensure quality control.
- Incorporate user feedback and data into game design and feature sets.
- Collaborate closely with artists, developers, and other team members.
- Communicate and report to the Design Lead.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- 0-4 years of experience as a game designer.
- Strong understanding of the mobile gaming landscape, market trends, and game mechanics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and feature specifications.
- Familiarity with game metrics and analytics tools for informed design decisions.
- Experience in prototyping and shipping games using Unity.
- Extensive knowledge of game design principles and player motivation.
- Passionate gamer with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Excel (or any scripting language) for maintaining game design configurations.
- A Bachelor's degree or College diploma in game design or an equivalent field is preferred.
