Steer Studios (formerly known as Savvy Games Studios) is on a mission to create a world-leading game studio in Saudi Arabia, focusing on high-quality games for international audiences and fostering the growth of the local gaming industry. As part of the Steer Studios team, you will collaborate with top global gaming talents and passionate Saudis.
We are seeking a Lead Game Designer with a passion for various game genres and storytelling. In this role, you will take on project leadership to resolve production or creative challenges, working closely with the Creative/Game Director. Your responsibilities will include building design teams, managing people, and fostering creativity and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with the latest player trends and apply them where applicable.
- Plan, detail, and supervise the work of Game Designers in your team.
- Ensure innovative gameplay and experiences align with the defined game vision.
- Conceptualize characters, rules, settings, and stories for new games.
- Manage creative ideation from pitching ideas to rapid prototyping.
- Define Game Design Documents (GDD) for various game systems.
- Review game features for fun and compliance with the GDD.
- Play game updates for feedback and quality control.
- Advocate for a game developer mindset within the team.
- Communicate effectively with the Design Director and production teams.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Expertise in Mobile and F2P with multiple titles shipped.
- 6+ years of experience as a game designer.
- Understanding of industry trends, market, and target audiences.
- Strong proficiency in KPIs and their integration in game design.
- Experience in prototyping and shipping games with Unity or Unreal engines.
- Knowledge of Game Design principles and the gaming landscape.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to produce clear documentation.
- Proficient in Excel or any scripting language for game design configurations.
- Strong problem-solving and intuitive development skills.
- Leadership experience that fosters team collaboration.
- A passion for gaming and keen attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in game design or equivalent preferred.
