Principal Researcher in Computer Vision

Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a global independent research and development institute focused on pioneering research and technology prototypes that drive societal advancement. Our Artificial Intelligence Cross-Center Unit acts as the machine learning powerhouse of TII, collaborating closely with other research centers to leverage AI across diverse sectors including technology, healthcare, cybersecurity, and government.

We are seeking a Principal Researcher in Computer Vision who will lead a team to create, adapt, and enhance algorithms for various computer vision applications, including vision-language models. This individual will work alongside researchers and engineers within our center and will be responsible for tackling challenging problems across a range of sensing and perception-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative methods or apply existing literature to address complex challenges.
• Formulate novel research concepts that support product roadmaps.
• Guide prototype development while engaging with end-user communities and industry/academic partners.
• Lead initiatives to assess the state-of-the-art in computer vision and machine learning.
• Establish and maintain standards of excellence and best practices in computer vision technologies.
• Coach and mentor computer vision scientists and engineers.
• Present research findings to customers, collaborators, and the broader research community through papers, reports, and demonstrations.
• Generate proposals for new projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
• 12+ years of experience in the field.
• In-depth understanding of computer vision and artificial intelligence.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proven experience with at least one of the following: TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
• Publications in leading conferences and journals such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NIPS, ICASSP, and Pattern Recognition.
• Experience in machine learning competitions, such as Kaggle, is advantageous.
