Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a global independent research and development institute focused on pioneering research and technology prototypes that propel society forward. Within TII, the Artificial Intelligence Cross-Center Unit acts as a machine learning powerhouse, collaborating with various research centers to leverage the full benefits of AI across diverse projects, including technology, healthcare, cybersecurity, and government. This unit is dedicated to developing advanced AI methodologies, technologies, solutions, and systems that tackle complex challenges across multiple sectors of the economy. We incorporate core elements of intelligence—such as perception, sensing, planning, and language—into the design and prototyping of next-generation systems with human-like intelligence.
Principal Researcher in Computer Vision
The Principal Researcher will be responsible for managing a team focused on creating, adapting, and improving algorithms for various applications within computer vision, including vision-language models. The candidate will collaborate closely with researchers and engineers from our center.
Responsibilities:
- Design new methods or adapt existing ones from the literature to address challenging problems in sensing and perception-based applications across different domains.
- Formulate innovative concepts and establish new research avenues that support product roadmaps.
- Guide prototype development while engaging with end-user communities and industry/academic partners to enhance the technology for field deployment.
- Lead division-wide initiatives to assess the state-of-the-art in computer vision and machine learning (CV/ML) within industry and academia.
- Ensure the organization remains a leader in CV-based technologies by maintaining standards of excellence/best practices and identifying strategic opportunities for differentiation in the competitive landscape.
- Coach and mentor CV scientists and engineers.
- Present your work to customers, collaborators, and the research community through papers, reports, and demonstrations.
- Generate proposals for new projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
- 12+ years of relevant experience.
- In-depth understanding of computer vision and artificial intelligence.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Proven experience with at least one of the following: TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
- A record of patents and publications in top-ranking conferences/journals, including CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NIPS, ICASSP, and Pattern Recognition.
- Experience in machine learning competitions, such as Kaggle.
