Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a publicly funded research institute based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Artificial Intelligence Cross-Center Unit serves as TII’s machine learning powerhouse, collaborating closely with other research centers to leverage AI across various projects. This unit drives innovation through new computing paradigms and the design and delivery of methodologies, technologies, solutions, and systems that tackle complex issues across multiple sectors, including technology, healthcare, cybersecurity, and government.
We are currently seeking a Principal Researcher in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLM). The successful candidate will manage a team and focus on creating, adapting, and enhancing algorithms for various applications within the field of NLP and LLM. Collaboration with researchers and engineers both within and outside the center will be essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and develop NLP models and algorithms for Human Computer Interaction applications.
- Develop and evaluate new algorithms and techniques to improve the accuracy and performance of NLP models and their applications.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and researchers to integrate NLP solutions into user-friendly and interactive applications and prototypes.
- Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in the field of NLP and LLMs.
- Formulate novel concepts and research thrusts underpinning product roadmaps.
- Guide prototype development and engage with end-user communities and industry/academic partners to refine technology for field deployment.
- Lead division-wide initiatives to assess the state-of-the-art in NLP/LLM across industry and academia.
- Ensure the company remains at the forefront of NLP-based technologies by establishing and maintaining standards of excellence and best practices, and identifying strategic opportunities for differentiation in the competitive landscape.
- Coach and mentor NLP/LLM scientists and engineers.
- Present work to customers, collaborators, and the research community through papers, reports, and demonstrations.
- Generate proposals for new projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
- 12+ years of experience in the field.
- In-depth understanding of NLP/LLM and Artificial Intelligence.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Proven experience with TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
