Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a publicly funded research institute located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Artificial Intelligence Cross-Center Unit serves as the machine learning powerhouse at TII, collaborating closely with our other research centers to leverage the full potential of AI. We aim to drive innovation across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, cybersecurity, and government, by developing AI methodologies, technologies, solutions, and systems that address complex challenges.
As a Senior Researcher in the Audio Modality, you will be responsible for conducting research on multimodal generative foundation models, with a specific focus on the audio modality. This role involves technical leadership and oversight, as well as identifying opportunities for future research projects and advancing TII's research capabilities. You will collaborate with academia and industry to build meaningful partnerships. Key responsibilities include spearheading research efforts in Speech / Audio Large Language Models, designing and implementing models and algorithms, collecting and selecting training data, and evaluating model performance. Additionally, you will mentor and supervise the development of researchers, keeping them updated with the latest AI techniques.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on multimodal generative foundation models with a focus on the audio modality.
- Identify future research opportunities and specify necessary resources.
- Design and implement models and algorithms specific to Audio Modality.
- Collect and select training data, train, tune, and scale models, and evaluate their performance.
- Open source research findings and publish results.
- Mentor and oversee the development of fellow researchers.
- Contribute to decision-making processes on research directions and priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Doctorate degree (PhD) with 5+ years of experience in related fields.
- Expertise in audio generation research including speech, sound, or music, text-to-speech synthesis, and audio-visual learning.
- Proven track record of high-impact publications.
- Solid communication skills and experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience with audio dataset curation, model evaluation, and large-scale data processing.
