This role involves managing an A-player analytics team, fostering an operating rhythm that delivers independently, allowing leadership to make faster, evidence-based decisions. As a key player in the company's planning cycle, you will own the measurement of performance, explain it effectively, and set data-backed priorities for each function. Key Accountabilities
KPI Framework
- Design and maintain a connected KPI tree: North Star, primary, and secondary KPIs for each function.
- Assign one owner per KPI, ensure each has a certified definition, and establish clear links to the higher-level KPI.
Planning and Simulation
- Own the analytical side of the annual and quarterly planning cycle.
- Construct driver-based models to simulate targets and confirm that functional targets align with company targets.
- Conduct scenario analysis for leadership and Finance, defending the assumptions made.
Performance Reporting
- Take charge of the monthly and quarterly performance reports.
- Provide explanations for every material miss or beat, linking them to real drivers and recommending actions.
Data-Backed Priorities
- Identify and set the top data-backed focus areas for each function quarterly.
- Monitor which recommendations are adopted and measure their impact on KPIs.
- Design experiments and establish post-launch measurement for key initiatives.
Single Source of Truth
- Uphold certified metrics, definition control, and dashboard hygiene across the company.
- Ensure leadership forums utilize only certified numbers.
Team and Operating System
- Recruit, coach, and grow the analyst team, reviewing their work for logic and quality.
- Develop role scorecards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each analyst, assigning them specific business functions to partner with.
- Manage demand intake and prioritize tasks so the team focuses on high-value work rather than ad-hoc requests.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Must have
- 6–8+ years in analytics, with a minimum of 2+ years in a leadership role overseeing analysts.
- Experience within a consumer marketplace or two-sided platform (such as travel, rideshare, delivery, e-commerce) during a scale-up phase.
- Proven ownership of a KPI framework, planning models, and performance reviews used at the executive level.
- Demonstrated experience in building or maturing an analytics function beyond mere reporting.
- Proficient in advanced SQL (BigQuery preferred) and BI tools (such as Metabase).
- Strong background in forecasting, scenario modeling, variance analysis, and experimentation.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively at the board level.
