Application Packaging Lead

About the Role
The company is seeking an experienced Application Packaging Lead to lead application packaging, testing, deployment readiness, and lifecycle management activities within a large-scale Modern Workplace environment in the UAE. The role will be responsible for ensuring enterprise applications are packaged, validated, and prepared for secure and reliable deployment across managed Windows endpoints using modern endpoint and device management technologies.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on application packaging and troubleshooting expertise with technical leadership, quality assurance, automation, and coordination across application, endpoint, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and service management teams.

Key Responsibilities
Application Packaging & Engineering

• Lead the packaging, repackaging, configuration, testing, and maintenance of enterprise applications.
• Develop and maintain packages using technologies such as MSI, MSIX, App-V, PowerShell, Win32 application packaging, and related tools.
• Package applications for deployment through Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), or equivalent endpoint management platforms.
• Perform application discovery and assess installation requirements, dependencies, prerequisites, configuration settings, and compatibility.
• Develop installation, uninstall, detection, remediation, and rollback logic.
• Troubleshoot complex packaging, installation, deployment, and application compatibility issues.

Testing, Quality & Deployment Readiness

• Establish and enforce application packaging standards, naming conventions, documentation, and quality controls.
• Perform technical validation and coordinate UAT/pilot testing prior to production deployment.
• Validate application compatibility across supported Windows environments and device configurations.
• Identify application conflicts, dependencies, and deployment risks and coordinate remediation.
• Ensure packages meet security, performance, stability, and operational requirements before release.

Modern Device Management & Automation

• Support application delivery through Microsoft Intune and SCCM/MECM within enterprise device-management environments.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for packaging, installation, detection, remediation, and automation.
• Support migration from legacy software deployment methods to modern application-management approaches.
• Work with endpoint engineering teams on application deployment policies, device targeting, and rollout strategies.
• Support application lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, supersedence, retirement, and removal.

Technical Leadership & Coordination

• Provide technical guidance and support to application packaging engineers and related delivery teams.
• Coordinate packaging priorities, workloads, dependencies, and delivery schedules.
• Work closely with Modern Workplace, endpoint engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application owners, and service management teams.
• Coordinate with software vendors and application owners to resolve complex packaging and compatibility issues.
• Support major deployments, migrations, cutovers, and transition into operational support.

Governance & Reporting

• Maintain accurate packaging documentation, application inventories, deployment records, and technical procedures.
• Track packaging requests, progress, defects, risks, and deployment readiness.
• Monitor packaging quality and identify opportunities for standardization and automation.
• Ensure application packages comply with established security, governance, and change-management requirements.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of application packaging, endpoint engineering, or Modern Workplace experience, with strong hands-on application packaging expertise.
• Strong experience with MSI/MSIX, Win32 packaging, PowerShell, application installation logic, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience packaging and deploying applications through Microsoft Intune and/or SCCM/MECM.
• Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, registry, file systems, services, permissions, application dependencies, and installation technologies.
• Experience with application compatibility testing, remediation, deployment validation, and troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale application deployments and endpoint environments.
• Strong documentation, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and technical coordination capabilities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with packaging technologies/tools such as PSAppDeployToolkit, Advanced Installer, InstallShield, AdminStudio, or equivalent.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Autopilot, Windows 11, and modern endpoint management.
• Experience supporting large-scale Modern Workplace or endpoint transformation programs.
• Understanding of endpoint security controls, application security, and vulnerability remediation.
• UAE/GCC enterprise technology experience is advantageous.
• Relevant Microsoft Endpoint Administrator, Intune, Modern Workplace, or equivalent certifications are preferred.

We are looking for a technically strong Application Packaging Lead who remains hands-on while providing leadership and quality oversight across the packaging lifecycle. The successful candidate should be comfortable handling complex applications, troubleshooting difficult deployment issues, developing PowerShell automation, and ensuring packages are production-ready before enterprise rollout. The ideal candidate will combine deep application packaging expertise, modern device-management knowledge, automation capability, attention to quality, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple technical teams.
