We are seeking an ambitious individual who is passionate about the banking and finance industry to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for reviewing sanctions escalations as an escalation point within the service level parameters. Your key objective will be to mitigate compliance risks by applying ownership with a high degree of attention and ensuring accuracy.

Principal Accountabilities

Work Management

  • Independently review Sanctions alerts in accordance with the company Sanctions alert discounting procedures as a final escalation point.
  • Responsible for the process review and enhancement related to the referral, escalation, and resolution of Sanctions alerts.
  • Advise business units on compliance with international Sanctions regimes and associated risks to nurture a strong compliance culture.
  • Mitigate sanctions compliance risks while fostering a compliance culture in the Bank and optimizing relations with Regulators and Correspondent banks to protect the reputation of the Bank.
  • Comply with applicable Sanction policies, standards, local laws, and regulations.
  • Investigate and take action on correspondent bank queries.
  • Review dual-use goods alerts and/or export control restrictions in conjunction with the assessment and information provided by the Trade Operations.
  • Maintain records of red flags.
  • Coordinate closely with Compliance and Operations for the smooth processing of transactions.
  • Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide viable solutions in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to businesses regarding international trade sanctions.
  • Evaluate potential risks and implications for businesses engaging in international trade, considering sanctions imposed on countries, individuals, or entities.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees about trade sanctions, their implications, and best practices for compliance.
  • Adapt to evolving Sanctions regulations as specific responsibilities may change.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the banking/financial services sector, with a minimum of 3 years in a sanctions advisory function.
