The Data Engineer will help deliver world-class big data solutions and drive impact for the Dubizzle business. You will be responsible for exciting projects covering the end-to-end data life cycle, from raw data integrations with primary and third-party systems, to advanced data modeling and the development of innovative data products. In this role, you will work with both batch and real-time data processing pipelines in a modern cloud-based data warehousing environment while collaborating with various teams to enable their success.
Responsibilities
- Integrate raw data with primary and third-party systems.
- Model data warehouses for operational and application data layers.
- Develop within the Amazon Redshift cluster.
- Contribute to SQL development as part of an agile team workflow.
- Design and implement ETL processes using Matillion ETL.
- Build real-time data pipelines and applications utilizing AWS services such as Lambda and Kinesis.
- Design and implement data products to enable data-driven features or business solutions.
- Ensure data quality, system stability, and security, adhering to coding standards in SQL and Python.
- Build data dashboards and advanced visualizations in Periscope Data, focusing on UX and usability.
- Work collaboratively with other departments such as product & technology, marketing & growth, and finance on data products.
- Participate in fostering a strong team culture and contributing to innovative big data strategies.
- Work autonomously on complex projects and participate in regular ETL status checks.
Requirements
- Qualifications: A top-tier technical degree in computer science, engineering, math, or physics.
- Experience:
- 3+ years working with customer-centric data at big data scale, preferably in an e-commerce context.
- 2+ years of experience with one or more programming languages, particularly Python.
- Strong experience in business intelligence solutions and building/scaling data warehouses.
- Familiarity with modern big data ETL tools such as Matillion is a plus.
- Experience with the AWS data ecosystem or other cloud providers.
- Knowledge of modern data visualization platforms such as Sisense, Google Data Studio, Tableau, or MS Power BI.
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of modern real-time data pipelines.
- Familiarity with relational and dimensional data models.
- Knowledge of Linux workflows and terminal operations.
- Skills:
- Proficient SQL skills across various relational data warehousing technologies.
- Ability to communicate insights to a non-technical audience.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English.
