About The Role
The safety and security of our Captains, customers, and colleagues is a strategic priority for Careem. This role will significantly impact the Safety and Security team’s mission to establish Careem as the safest platform in the region by leveraging technology, people, and processes.

What You'll Do

  • Safety and Security Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with Careem’s mission to ensure the safety of Captains, customers, and colleagues. Collaborate with key stakeholders to shape and co-create the safety vision and roadmap.
  • Policy and Process Development: Create and implement safety policies and processes to drive safety performance and achieve business objectives. Ensure continuous process improvement through regular evaluations.
  • Incident Management and Investigations: Oversee incident management, including response and escalation protocols. Lead investigations into safety and security issues, providing support for anti-fraud and compliance teams.
  • Law Enforcement and Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with law enforcement agencies and other relevant stakeholders. Drive the implementation of safety and security initiatives across various locations.
  • Innovation and Automation: Recommend and implement innovative solutions to tackle safety and security challenges. Collaborate with operations and central teams to automate and systematize scalable safety processes.
  • Thought Leadership and Continuous Improvement: Act as a thought leader in safety and security, influencing internal and external stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the safety and security framework.

What You'll Need
The ideal candidate should possess a passionate commitment to improving lives, an unwavering focus on excellence and customer service, and strong alignment with our core values: boldness, focus, agility, and collaboration. Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a corporate security/safety context, with transportation industry experience being advantageous.
  • Hands-On Experience: Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and auditing physical and electronic security systems, travel security programs, and incident management principles.
  • Investigations and Anti-Fraud: Desired experience in investigations and/or anti-fraud.
  • Project Management: Project management experience is a distinct advantage.
  • Operations and Safety: Desired experience in operations and safety, with a proven track record of achieving metric-driven results.

Skills

  • Flexibility: Willingness to address out-of-hours issues as needed.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Google Workspace is required.
  • Language: Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Arabic language skills are a plus.
