The company has an opportunity for an Associate Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Associate Engineer performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the assigned department and ensures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. Responsibilities:
- Conduct coatings testing related to qualification tests on heat shrink sleeves, product qualification tests on elastomers and polymers based on international standards.
- Perform sour and non-sour corrosion testing on various ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
- Execute metallurgical examinations including macro and microstructure examinations, grain size analysis, inclusion count, banding index, phase balance, and nodularity.
- Support mechanical testing with hands-on experience in tensile testing, bend testing, Charpy impact testing, and hardness testing.
- Provide technical and engineering inputs and support the development of new technologies within the laboratory.
- Ensure accurate and timely release of test data to customers for sign-off by technical leads while maintaining quality control records.
- Engage in problem-solving activities and oversee standard and/or routine technical challenges.
- Interact with customers and witness representatives regarding test procedures, technical issues, and questions.
- Contribute to business development opportunities with new or existing customers.
- Work at site locations for testing as deemed necessary by the company.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety and ISO 17025 work culture; adept in handling chemicals and reagents.
- Expertise in the scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies, and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline.
- Minimum engineering degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical disciplines.
- At least 2 years of relevant hands-on laboratory testing experience.
- Ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of the company's business.
- Operational knowledge of LIMS and similar laboratory management systems is advantageous.
- Experience in conducting on-site tests (PMI, hardness, ferrite, replica, etc.) is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of testing concepts and hands-on experience with related test equipment.
- Ability to analyze and compile testing data.
- Strong computer skills and good oral and written communication skills in English.
