Responsibilities

Payments Strategy & Commercial Growth

  • Support the implementation of the company’s domestic and international payments strategy.
  • Identify new payment corridors, propositions, and revenue opportunities.
  • Drive payment volumes, market penetration, customer adoption, and commercial growth.
  • Use market intelligence and performance data to refine payment propositions and business models.
  • Contribute to achieving annual revenue targets, business goals, and key performance indicators.

Domestic Payments

  • Manage and enhance domestic payment solutions across NPSS, Aani, account-to-account transfers, bill payments, and WPS 2.0.
  • Monitor performance, operational resilience, customer experience, and compliance across payment rails.
  • Identify opportunities to improve straight-through processing, service reliability, and customer adoption.
  • Coordinate product, operational, and technology enhancements across the domestic payments portfolio.

Cross-Border Payments & Remittances

  • Drive the growth and monetisation of Western Union and other correspondent payment corridors.
  • Identify emerging markets, new corridors, and high-potential remittance opportunities.
  • Develop secure, scalable, and commercially viable cross-border payment solutions.
  • Improve the reach, pricing, speed, and customer experience of international payment journeys.
  • Explore emerging payment technologies, including blockchain and digital asset-enabled solutions.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Manage and develop strategic relationships with payment providers, fintechs, correspondent banks, vendors, and ecosystem partners.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and long-term direction of key payment partnerships.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and service-level commitments.
  • Monitor partner performance and ensure commercial, operational, and customer objectives are achieved.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships into additional products and services.

Product & Proposition Development

  • Manage and develop relevant payment capabilities, including BIN, RMT, AAS, and associated propositions.
  • Explore adjacent opportunities across value-added products and services.
  • Develop commercially sustainable propositions that generate revenue and strengthen customer value.
  • Build compelling business cases for new products, partnerships, and market expansion.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend enhancements or corrective actions.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Manage remediation plans and maintain effective governance and oversight.
  • Ensure payment products and partnerships comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain strong controls across payment operations, partnerships, and customer journeys.
  • Support audit readiness, operational resilience, and the timely resolution of issues.
  • Proactively identify and manage operational, regulatory, compliance, and reputational risks.

Stakeholder Management & Delivery

  • Engage senior internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment and execution.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Technology, Project Delivery, Operations, and Customer Fulfilment teams.
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure secure, scalable, and timely implementation.
  • Provide management updates on performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic priorities.

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business, Finance, Technology, Payments, or a related field.

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in Payments, Remittances, Transaction Banking, FinTech, Digital Banking, or Financial Services.
  • Proven experience managing domestic or cross-border payment products and partnerships.
  • Strong track record of developing commercial propositions and delivering revenue growth.
  • Experience working with payment providers, fintechs, correspondent banks, or technology partners.

Industry Exposure

  • Strong understanding of domestic payments, cross-border payments, remittance corridors, and emerging payment rails.
  • Knowledge of Aani, NPSS, account-to-account payments, bill payments, WPS, and correspondent payment models.
  • Exposure to blockchain, digital assets, APIs, or real-time payment technologies would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with payments regulation, compliance oversight, operational controls, and risk management.
