Audio-Visual Technician

About the Role
The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AV systems throughout the resort. This role provides reliable technical support for various events, including meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, and entertainment experiences, while collaborating closely with Events, Banquets, Entertainment, IT, and Engineering teams. The position also includes supporting VIP events, responding to technical requests, maintaining equipment and records, and ensuring all AV systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with resort standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Routine Maintenance and Installation: Perform regular maintenance, inspections, testing, and installation of AV equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimize equipment failures.
• Event Setup and Operations: Set up, test, operate, and dismantle AV equipment for meetings, weddings, conferences, banquets, entertainment, and special events to ensure smooth event execution.
• Troubleshooting and Emergency Response: Respond promptly to AV faults and technical issues, identify problems, and carry out necessary repairs or corrective actions to minimize disruption to guests and events.
• Guest and Event Support: Provide professional technical support for VIP guests, meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events while ensuring a high level of guest service.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance, repairs, and technical issues, and report major faults or service requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Inventory and Equipment Control: Properly store, maintain, and monitor AV equipment, accessories, and spare parts while ensuring accurate inventory and timely replacement of required items.
• Coordination and Teamwork: Coordinate with Events, Banquets, Entertainment, IT, Engineering, and external suppliers to ensure all AV requirements are completed accurately and on time.
• Preventive Maintenance and Reliability: Conduct planned preventive maintenance and regular equipment checks to identify potential problems early and maintain reliable AV operations.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all resort safety, fire, electrical, and operational procedures to ensure safe AV operations and a clean, organized working environment.
• Training and Development: Attend departmental briefings and technical training to maintain current knowledge of AV equipment, technology, safety procedures, and industry practices.
• Operational Support: Provide technical assistance during major events, emergencies, and special functions, and remain available for shifts, weekends, public holidays, and events as required.
• Professional Standards: Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and service standards while supporting the Engineering team and carrying out other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant AV experience, preferably in a luxury hotel, resort, hospitality, or high-end events environment.
• Education: Diploma, certificate, or relevant technical qualification in Audio Visual Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, IT, or a related field is preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of professional audio, video, lighting, projection, LED displays, presentation systems, and related AV equipment.
• Event Experience: Proven experience in setting up and operating AV systems for conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings, entertainment, and special events.
• Troubleshooting Skills: Good understanding of AV troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, basic repairs, equipment handling, and fault diagnosis.
• Electrical Safety: Knowledge of electrical safety, AV installations, cabling, connections, and safe equipment handling procedures.
• AV Systems: Familiarity with video conferencing systems, LED screens, projectors, sound systems, mixers, amplifiers, microphones, digital displays, and AV control systems.
• Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail with good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to Work Under Pressure: Able to respond quickly and effectively to technical issues during live events and guest activities.
• Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with guests, colleagues, management, and external suppliers.
• Language: Good command of written and spoken English.
• Flexibility: Willing to work shifts, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and special events based on operational requirements.
• Organization: Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain equipment inventories, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
• Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Engineering, Operations, Events, IT, and other departments.
• Additional Technical Skills: Knowledge of AV control systems, automation software, and digital signage systems is an advantage.
• Certifications: Relevant AV, electrical, electronics, or safety certifications are an advantage.
