Key Responsibilities
- Keep daily workshop operations running smoothly, from vehicle inspections and diagnostics to repairs and maintenance.
- Lead technicians and mechanics, assign jobs, and ensure everyone understands their priorities.
- Plan repair schedules and balance workloads to meet deadlines and delivery commitments.
- Assist the team in troubleshooting challenging mechanical and electrical issues when necessary.
- Check work progress and ensure repairs meet quality standards before vehicles are returned to customers.
- Identify delays and workflow issues early, then implement practical solutions.
- Keep customers and internal teams informed on repair progress, findings, costs, and expected completion dates.
- Review job orders, repair estimates, and parts requirements to ensure proper planning and cost control.
- Coordinate with suppliers and parts teams to ensure the workshop is stocked with necessary components and materials.
- Ensure tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery are properly maintained and used safely.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and job progress reports.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized working environment in accordance with workshop procedures.
- Continuously seek ways to improve turnaround times, team productivity, and overall workshop efficiency.
- Support and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and performance.
- Investigate recurring repair issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Monitor workshop performance and propose improvements to management on service quality and resource utilization.
- Collaborate closely with management to achieve operational targets and consistently deliver positive customer experiences.
Requirements
- Previous experience managing or supervising an automotive workshop or service centre.
- A diploma or degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, mechanical and electrical systems, servicing, and repair procedures.
- Proven ability to lead a technical team, manage competing priorities, and maintain workflow.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a practical, hands-on approach to challenges.
- Understanding of workshop scheduling, spare parts coordination, equipment maintenance, and cost control.
- Strong communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with technicians, customers, suppliers, and management.
- A commitment to quality workmanship, workplace safety, and continuous improvement.
- Must currently reside in the UAE and be available for an in-person interview in Dubai.
