About the Role
The Group Fraud Risk & Investigations function is an integral part of the Risk Management framework, providing second line Fraud Risk oversight for the firm's front office and support/control functions. The main objective of this role is to conduct ad hoc, periodic, and ongoing fraud risk assessments and reviews of the company's Products, Policies, Processes, and new initiatives. The incumbent will engage in reviews of high-risk business processes to ensure that all associated fraud risks are effectively mitigated and will also carry out vigilance activities comprising reviews of loans and cards to identify potential frauds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of bank-wide fraud assessment & mitigation strategies tailored to manage individual and unique fraud risks across key products, channels, and segments.
  • Collaborate on talent development initiatives within the assigned department, ensuring alignment with technical/discipline experts to meet business talent requirements.
  • Model adherence to organizational values and ethics, fostering a value-driven culture within the department.
  • Review functional policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant procedural and legislative requirements while delivering quality, cost-effective services.
  • Identify and promote continuous improvement and sustainability opportunities for systems, processes, and practices in alignment with global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction efforts.
  • Prepare all unit reports timely and accurately in accordance with the company's requirements, policies, and quality standards.
  • Review all amendments to group-wide, high-risk standard operating procedures and engage with business teams to conduct walkthroughs for new initiatives, identifying fraud risk within business processes and customer journeys.
  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Investigations, Technology, and Strategy on risk assessments.
  • Conduct reviews of group-wide Risk and Control Self Assessments for business units with elevated levels of fraud risk.
  • Collaborate closely with the Line Manager to ensure all fraud risks are identified, mitigated, or risk-accepted appropriately by the business.
  • Perform vigilance sampling reviews on customer applications for credit and other company products to identify fraud controls, policy deviations, and potential fraud.
  • Support the Line Manager as GFRI Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in participating and concluding key Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as needed.
  • Ensure adoption of control recommendations by the business or that any residual risks are accepted by the appropriate risk committee.
  • Conduct timely reviews of the Dynamic Risk Profile report to share key findings with Key Risk function stakeholders.
  • Engage with Digital teams as GFRI SPOC to ensure effective checks and controls are implemented in key digital journeys.
  • Maintain detailed Management Information (MI) and evidence of Vigilance activities.
  • Support and collaborate with other GFRI activities as required.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the banking sector.
  • In-depth understanding of bank products, channels, and services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fraud risk within the banking sector.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred / Beneficial

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CFE, CFA, FRM, CAMS, etc. are preferred.
