The role supports the Tuning, Calibration & Analytics function within Financial Crime Operations by performing tuning, calibration, optimization, and analytics activities across the Group’s sanctions screening and AML monitoring platforms. The position is responsible for deploying and maintaining effective screening and monitoring configurations, conducting periodic tuning and calibration to enhance alert quality and reduce false positives, and producing analytics and management information for designated stakeholders, while adhering to global regulatory requirements and the company’s policies.

Key Accountabilities
Policies, Systems, Process & Procedures
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that the work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify continuous improvement and sustainability opportunities across related systems, processes, and practices within Financial Crime Operations.
- Support the implementation of the Group’s sanctions screening and AML monitoring systems roadmap as agreed with management, keeping the VP & Head of Tuning, Calibration & Analytics updated.
- Work proactively with Group IT and other stakeholders on screening and monitoring system projects, contributing to the creation of BRD/FSD documentation to ensure fit-for-purpose systems are designed.
- Deliver mandated sanctions screening and AML monitoring tuning and optimization projects, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and providing periodic status updates to the VP & Head of Tuning, Calibration & Analytics.
- Provide relevant user training to ensure a smooth go-live process.
- Coordinate all required changes in existing platforms as per business requirements with Group IT, establishing timelines, creating program structures, and updating systems architecture to support financial crime control capabilities for major changes.
- Deploy fit-for-purpose algorithms, parameters, thresholds, and rules for the Group, driving continuous tuning and calibration to enhance alert quality.
- Ensure sanctions screening systems effectively screen information against company-approved global lists and individual country lists for all locations.
Technology
- Assist in producing procedures and processes aligned with Group Policy for the Tuning, Calibration & Analytics function.
- Consult with relevant business users to assist in the design and architecture of sanctions screening and AML monitoring systems.
- Ensure proper UAT sessions for system implementations.
- Manage periodic testing of screening and AML monitoring systems, ensuring data quality, completeness, and proper alignment with underlying models, logic, and thresholds.
Data Analysis
- Conduct periodic testing of payment/customer screening and AML monitoring systems to identify, record, risk assess, and close gaps.
- Perform ongoing tuning and calibration of systems to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide support for country-specific configurations and performance of screening and monitoring systems, addressing international sanctions and AML requirements.
- Advise and collaborate with related IT teams on system selections, upgrades, and initiatives impacting screening and monitoring systems.
Reporting
- Collaborate with Financial Crime Operations SMEs to develop MI dashboards for tuning, calibration, and analytics.
- Develop a periodic reporting plan and maintain schedules for multiple reports.
- Extract relevant data using logical queries and basic programming to populate management information dashboards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to gather information for dashboard population.
- Submit MI dashboards to the VP & Head of Tuning, Calibration & Analytics for review.
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Technology, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. ICA, CAMS, or equivalent Financial Crime Compliance certification is an advantage.
Minimum Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in data analysis, data management, and sanctions screening and/or AML monitoring systems, including tuning, calibration, and threshold management.
- Strong knowledge of sanctions, AML monitoring concepts, and financial crime control environments.
- Strong experience with screening and monitoring platforms (e.g., Fircosoft filter, Firco Utilities, or equivalent tools).
- Good knowledge of SQL and Power BI; experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, KSH, PowerShell) and exposure to machine learning or advanced analytics are a plus.
