You will be involved in building and maintaining the services for our multi-tenant SaaS platform. You'll work closely with the squad's Digital Architect, who will review your code, guide your technical decisions, and help you accelerate your growth alongside other software developers. The ideal candidate writes clean, tested code, asks insightful questions, accepts feedback positively, and is committed to completing their tasks efficiently.
Primary Mission:
- Deliver well-tested, production-ready backend features for our cloud-native SaaS products, under the technical guidance of the squad's Digital Architect.
Key Stakeholders:
- Digital Architect (direct manager)
- Squad Software Developers
- Product Manager
- Data/AI Engineers
Employment Type:
- Full-time
Jobs to Be Done:
- Lead the Frontend Engineering Team: Manage, grow, and set the technical direction for frontend engineers, including overseeing hiring, code review standards, individual development plans, and allocation of frontend capacity across squads and platform work.
- Feature Development: Implement backend features and REST APIs in Java (Spring Boot) for our SaaS products, from a defined ticket through to a running service in production.
- Testing as Part of the Work: Write unit and integration tests for all created components, making tests part of the deliverable, not a separate end task.
- Code Review Participation: Submit small, reviewable pull requests and act promptly on review feedback. Review peers' code and learn from it.
- Bug Fixing & Support: Investigate and fix defects in your squad's services, including reproducing issues from logs and traces and supporting releases involving your code.
- Data Layer Work: Write and optimize SQL queries, design schemas and migrations, and collaborate on the platform's persistence layer under guidance.
- Cloud-Native Delivery: Containerize and deploy your services through existing CI/CD pipelines and understand the lifecycle of your code post-merge.
- Collaboration: Work with the Product Manager to clarify requirements before coding and with Data/AI Engineers when services consume or expose data and model outputs.
- Documentation: Maintain current API contracts and technical notes for the components you manage.
Education Requirements:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent verifiable hands-on software engineering experience.
- Preferred: Technical certification in software engineering or cloud platforms.
- Licenses/Accreditations (nice to have): GCP or equivalent AWS/Azure certifications related to Software Engineering / Solutions Architecting.
Experience:
- Years of Experience: 3+ years of hands-on backend development, with Java as the primary language in a professional environment.
- Domain Exposure: Building and running web or SaaS applications; REST API development; relational databases; working in a cloud environment (preferably Google Cloud, AWS/Azure acceptable); containerization (Docker).
- Ways of Working: Experience in an agile team with version control, pull-request-based review, and an automated build and deployment pipeline.
- Nice to Have: Knowledge of multi-tenant applications, message queues or event-driven patterns, observability tooling, or basic Python.
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical:
- Java (Java 17+, strong command of the language and ecosystem) — Must-have
- Spring Boot (REST controllers, dependency injection, configuration, data access) — Must-have
- Automated Testing (JUnit, mocking, integration tests) — Must-have
- SQL and Relational Data Modelling — Nice-to-have
- Git and Pull-Request Workflow — Must-have
- REST API Design & Implementation — Nice-to-have (strongly preferred)

- Delivery Consistency: Percentage of assigned sprint items completed and merged within the sprint. Target: 85%
- Code Review Efficiency: Percentage of pull requests merged without major rework, and prompt addressing of review feedback. Target: 80% merged without major rework
- Test Coverage Contribution: Test coverage of new and modified code in the squad's repositories. Target: > 80% on new code
- Production Stability: Number of critical or high-severity defects in production traced to own delivered code. Target: < 2 per quarter
- Technical Growth: Progression against an agreed development plan set with the Senior Software Developer. Target: Reviewed quarterly
Why Join Us?
- Career Growth: You will work alongside senior engineers who will conduct code reviews and support your development on a real SaaS platform used by customers, rather than internal tools. There is a clear path toward Senior Software Developer and Digital Architect for those who perform and develop.
- Culture: We value an engineering-first and builder mindset. Focused on delivering working software through hands-on validation rather than endless theoretical discussions, we maintain small squads, short feedback loops, and choose modern technologies based on merit.
- Rewards: Competitive tax-free salary in Qatar, comprehensive health benefits, relocation assistance, and various modern workplace perks.
