BI Developer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with a strong background in dashboard development and data analysis to join our team at Presight, a part of AIQ, a joint venture focusing on developing artificial intelligence technologies in the energy sector. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with BI tools such as Spotfire and Power BI, along with a deep understanding of data modeling, complex datasets, and cloud-based data source integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spotfire:

  • Build dashboards with dynamic filters, expressions, and advanced visuals.
  • Use JavaScript API for UI enhancements.
  • Create heatmaps, scatter plots, treemaps, and maps.
  • Integrate R/Python via Data Functions.
  • Optimize performance using in-memory tables and indexing.

• Power BI:

  • Develop dashboards with Power Query and DAX.
  • Implement drillthrough, RLS, and slicers.
  • Publish via Power BI Service and embed in applications.
  • Build tabular models for enhanced performance.
  • Automate reports using Power BI API.

• Data Analysis & Modeling:

  • Deliver insights from raw data with model design for complex reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy through validation.

• Database & Cloud Integration:

  • Write SQL for Oracle/PostgreSQL ETL.
  • Integrate data from Azure and AWS.
  • Utilize Azure Data Lake & AWS S3 for REST API Integration.
  • Automate data ingestion into BI tools.

• Performance Optimization:

  • Manage large datasets efficiently.
  • Optimize data models, queries, and visuals.

• Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work with analysts, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Train users and support adoption of BI solutions.
  • Document BI solutions.

Qualifications:

• Experience & Expertise:

  • 3+ years as a BI Developer focusing on dashboard design and development using Spotfire and Power BI.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities, including data wrangling, transformation, and visualization.
  • Extensive experience in data modeling and ensuring data integrity, particularly within complex datasets.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is advantageous.

• Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Spotfire features and Power BI development.
  • Proficient in SQL for Oracle and PostgreSQL database queries.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs for data integration.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, including Azure and AWS.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with additional BI tools or platforms.
• Experience with data warehousing and big data technologies.
• Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
• Relevant certifications in BI tools such as Spotfire and Power BI.
• Experience with Oil & Gas data analytics, including asset management and production optimization.
