BIM Specialist – MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented BIM Specialist – MEP to join our team! The BIM Specialist – MEP will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and strategies for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in construction projects. The role requires a high level of expertise in BIM software and MEP coordination to ensure accurate, detailed design models that meet project goals and industry standards. This position is key in supporting project teams during both design and construction phases, coordinating between various departments, consultants, and contractors to facilitate the efficient integration of MEP systems.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop, update, and maintain accurate 3D models for MEP systems in accordance with project specifications and BIM standards.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Civil) to ensure seamless integration of the MEP systems within the overall design.
• Support the clash detection process to resolve design conflicts early in the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with project engineers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure MEP design intent is accurately represented in the BIM model.
• Participate in coordination meetings to address design or construction issues, proposing solutions based on BIM data.
• Ensure that MEP designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Provide technical support for project teams using BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks) and assist in troubleshooting model-related issues.
• Conduct regular model audits to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of BIM data.
• Generate construction drawings, schedules, and reports directly from the BIM model.
• Ensure that project deliverables such as drawings and models are issued in accordance with established deadlines and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with industry BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650) and company-specific BIM execution plans.
• Implement best practices for model management, data exchange, and document control to improve project efficiency.
• Provide training and guidance to project teams on BIM tools and workflows.
• Stay updated with advancements in BIM technology and workflows, integrating new tools or methodologies as appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in the construction industry with a focus on MEP systems and BIM management.
• Proficient in BIM software, particularly Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and Dynamo.
• Experience in clash detection and resolution.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and integration with architectural and structural models.
• Familiarity with industry BIM standards (ISO 19650) and project execution plans.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional certification in BIM (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit MEP).
• Experience in large-scale construction projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial developments.
• Familiarity with energy analysis, sustainability considerations, or other advanced BIM functions.
