About the Role
The Body-in-White Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Manager will be responsible for deploying new products and equipment at the company. You will work closely with Project Management, Vehicle Integration, Design Engineering, Logistics, New Product Introduction, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the Body in White Manufacturing line is built to all customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Generate RFQs for Body in White equipment and vet integrator proposals.
- Review all project phases to SOP and follow-up open issue list.
- Execute and document FAT/SAT buyoffs with integrators.
- Gain holistic knowledge of the product, production processes, and manufacturing technologies in order to understand and mitigate risks, as well as to recognize optimization opportunities.
- Develop and maintain risk assessments to mitigate timeline and cost impacts.
- Report out project updates to Manufacturing leadership.
- Build and maintain manufacturing equipment project charter for Body in White lines.
- Understand and monitor product design change impacts on manufacturing equipment budget and timeline.
- Work with affected teams to understand the critical actions necessary to integrate their requirements into the manufacturing line.
- Coordinate and effectively run meetings to resolve issues related to manufacturing equipment design and installation.
- Manage on-site installation planning with equipment integrators and facility installations.
- Support launch management team for line launch readiness and handoff.
- Create and modify schedules.
- Define and monitor KPIs and performance dashboards for engineering activities.
- Lead lessons learned and knowledge-sharing initiatives across programs.
- Ensure manufacturability of product designs through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
- Drive PFMEA development, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Standard Work creation.
Manufacturing Process Development
- Define and implement BIW manufacturing strategies for new programs and production expansions. Lead process development for Resistance Spot Welding, MIG/MAG Welding, Laser Welding, Structural Adhesives, Riveting Technologies, Hemming, and Closure Assembly.
Dimensional Quality & Fit & Finish
- Establish dimensional control strategies for BIW assemblies. Lead body accuracy improvement initiatives and coordinate quality loops during launch phases. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions related to dimensional variation, tooling issues, and assembly problems. Support fit-and-finish optimization with Quality and Operation teams.
Operational Excellence
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on:

Skills
- Experience in the automotive industry is a must.
- Must be detail-oriented and well organized.
- Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives in complex environments.
- Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company.
- Working knowledge of MS Project and AutoCAD is a must.
- Working knowledge of Catia and Delmia is a plus.
- Possess knowledge and experience across multiple functions within product design and manufacturing.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
- 5+ years in Body in White Engineering/ Project Management experience.
