Position

The company is looking for an amazingly talented Business Development Manager to join our team! In this role, you will provide business development leadership and direction for one geographic location or a specific market sector over a broader geographic area. You will understand business negotiations and act upon opportunities to promote the company's expertise and successful past performance. This role may involve extensive travel to cultivate new and ongoing business development endeavors. Typical responsibilities include managing important client accounts and overseeing large, complex proposal and project activities.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Establishes and maintains client contacts and develops sales strategies. Strengthens current business ties and coordinates meetings between clients/potential clients and technical or other key individuals.
  • Keeps abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate.
  • Conducts surveys to determine promising areas of development. Establishes and maintains numerous contacts within and outside the industry.
  • Follows up in a timely manner on all possible leads.
  • Develops proposals for services in response to invitations to bid, and provides guidance to the proposal team from inception to completion.
  • Develops the pricing structure, as well as other contract terms and conditions.
  • Negotiates contracts, including secrecy agreements and joint venture agreements.
  • Acts as sponsor for foreign agent representatives; negotiates and maintains agent agreements.
  • Acts as a sponsor during project execution.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent).
  • 10-15+ years diversified experience, primarily within the business development realm of a large, multinational company (5-10 years in business development).
  • Seasoned capture management professional.
  • Experience in commercial bid management.
  • Client relationship and interface management skills.
  • A thorough understanding of proposal pricing, contract terminology, and negotiations with potential clients, as well as the company's policies and business objectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent presentation abilities.
  • Exceptional ability to represent the company favorably, develop new clients, and negotiate with key members of other firms.
